Festivities: 2010 Christmas Festival

Every year the school celebrates a Christmas Festival to finish the first part of the academic year and to give the students an outlet for their energy and something to look forward to before the holidays. Each grade, from preschool to sixth, had to prepare a show and present it to the rest of the school in the auditorium. The students put a lot of work and dedication into the presentations. We should all be very proud of them!

We chose the song "All I Want for Christmas Is You" from Mariah Carey and, with my help, the students created choreography for the song. I have uploaded a video of the rehearsal that we held a few days before the Festival. In the video, some of the students did the dancing, others did the singing, and the ones below the stage pretended to be the musicians.

I thought the children looked wonderful! Don't you think so?

Bea

Festivities: Peace Day 2011

Our school celebrated Peace Day on January 28th. The students read poems, sang Michael Jackson's "Heal the World" (which they had been practicing in class for some time), and made an enormous map of the world out of boxes that they had colored in class. They behaved beautifully, as always.

Trips: Casa de Campo - February

I try to take the children on local field trips every once in a while. Through these trips, I promote camaraderie and try to give the kids a break from school work. Parents should be very proud of them because they work so hard in my class!

Here are the pictures and videos from yesterday.

Thank you, everyone, for behaving well and keeping each other safe.

Trips: 2010 Carabanchel Cross-Country Race

A cross-country race is held every year in Carabanchel. The purpose of the race is to promote healthy habits and get students involved in sports. Our CEIP Hernán Cortés sent students from certain grade levels to compete in the 2010 annual cross-country race. One of our students from 6th grade won 2nd place!

Here are some of the pictures of the event.

Trip: Casa de Campo

Here are two videos of our trip to Casa de Campo back in January. In both videos the children are practicing rhymes and inventing their own song in English. I am very proud of them!

I hope you enjoy them. :)

Bea

P.S. I will post another video with pictures taken on that day.

Inventing their own song, while practicing rhyming!

I have uploaded a slideshow of all the pictures we took on our first field trip downtown back in November. We all had a great time and the kids loved it!

Enjoy!

Bea's Kids: Our New Blog!

Welcome to our Blog!

I am starting this project as a way for my students and parents to be more connected with what we do at school. One of my goals is for both students and parents to have a space where they can share and talk about the different experiences and/or activities done inside and outside the classroom. At the same time, my intention is for parents to have access to pictures, videos, and information about their children’s activities throughout the year.

It is a pleasure to begin this project, and I hope that you enjoy it.

Sincerely,

Bea
