San Isidro 2012

This year we celebrated San Isidro by going to the Pradera on May 14th, since Madrid´s saint patron is celebrated on May 15th. The kids had an awesome time in the summer heat and they were able to enjoy the day with all their peers. Here are some pictures from the day.

Peace Day 2012

Every year the school celebrates Peace Day as a way to unite and promote friendship and respect for one another. The school got all the students together in the playground and the different classes participated reciting, singing, and acting the different acts they prepared for the event.

Our class prepared a poem and it was recited by students: Camila Montecinos, María del Carmen León, and Miriam Sánchez. They did a great job!

Christmas Festival 2011 video!

Here is the festival´s video for our last day of school for 2011. I had a great year with the kids and we certainly made it very memorable for them. The children were able to start the academic year with a trip to Asturias, followed by other activities, and ending with Rascafría.
Thank you to everyone for this great year and I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Love always,
Bea

St. Patrick's Day Festival

On March 18th, we had a terrific St. Patrick's Day celebration. In the morning, the children made shamrocks and decorated them with the colors of the Irish flag. After recess, an live Irish band put on a mini-concert, and we finished off the day with a gymkhana that left the children exhausted but happy. The weather was beautiful, too—it finally felt like we were heading into spring.
As you can see, our students thoroughly enjoyed themselves, and were fairly creative with the mandate to wear green (note the face paintings). Enjoy the pictures!

Festivities: 2010 Christmas Festival

Every year the school celebrates a Christmas Festival to finish the first part of the academic year and to give the students an outlet for their energy and something to look forward to before the holidays. Each grade, from preschool to sixth, had to prepare a show and present it to the rest of the school in the auditorium. The students put a lot of work and dedication into the presentations. We should all be very proud of them!

We chose the song "All I Want for Christmas Is You" from Mariah Carey and, with my help, the students created choreography for the song. I have uploaded a video of the rehearsal that we held a few days before the Festival. In the video, some of the students did the dancing, others did the singing, and the ones below the stage pretended to be the musicians.

I thought the children looked wonderful! Don't you think so?

Festivities: Peace Day 2011

Our school celebrated Peace Day on January 28th. The students read poems, sang Michael Jackson's "Heal the World" (which they had been practicing in class for some time), and made an enormous map of the world out of boxes that they had colored in class. They behaved beautifully, as always.
